Laser Skin Resurfacing
Resurfacing sun-damaged, scarred or wrinkled skin with a laser is a powerful skin rejuvenation tool. There are a variety of lasers available to perform these procedures. The laser selected depends on the findings on examination (skin texture, color, etc.) and the desired results of the patient. While lasers improve the aforementioned skin problems very well, they are not without recovery issues. Postoperative redness should be expected, and while easily covered with makeup, does last an average of three months. In patients accepting of the recovery, laser skin resurfacing is an excellent procedure.

BOTOX® Injections
BOTOX® injections for facial wrinkles is one of the most popular, satisfying and effective non-surgical procedures performed by a plastic surgeon. BOTOX® works by weakening those muscles under the skin which cause wrinkles to form. It is typically painless, causes no, or minimal, redness or swelling, and has immediate recovery. It takes effect within four days and always provides a significant improvement in one’s appearances. The main uses for BOTOX® include diminishing wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, to the crow’s feet (sides of the eyes), and to improve loose and unsightly neck muscles. BOTOX® also has utility in the treatment of migraine headaches.

Collagen Injections
Collagen, and other injectable “fillers” are used to fill in facial defects such as wrinkles and scars, and often to enhance and fill-out other areas such as the lips. It is different than BOTOX® in that it does not inhibit the facial muscles from causing new lines and wrinkles. Whether BOTOX® or Collagen is best suited for the patient is decided during the initial evaluation. Oftentimes a combination of treatments (BOTOX®, Collagen, +/– laser) is most beneficial. Before using Collagen, patients are required to have a Collagen skin test to assure that there will be no allergic reactions to the injection. Like BOTOX®, the process is quick, simple, and effective.
